Please pray for us....

We have had an incredibly trying week. Some of you know what happened, so Orrin and I would appreciate all the prayers possible. We found out additional information tonight that has me really down, and I am worried for Orrin. I don't understand why some things happen, or why God allows certain things to take place. I guess all we can do right now is trust in Him.

I thought weekends were supposed to be relaxing.

Whew....what a busy weekend. On Friday we had Orrin's family in and out of the house, and then Friday evening my parents came in town. Here are just a few of the "adventures" we had.

1. Friday night: said goodbye to baby Kathryn because Liz and Tony came back in town. :( We miss her already!!!

2. Saturday morning: Orrin stepped on a nail when he was sweeping out the garage. Ended up in urgent care to get a tetnus shot.

3. Saturday morning: packed away some of Adilynn's baby clothes that don't fit her anymore.

4. Saturday afternoon: discovered cucumber water. A glass of water with slices of cucumber....it's so good!!!

5. Saturday evening: dinner at Logan's Roadhouse.

6. Saturday evening: went to my in-laws to say goodbye to Liz and Tony. They live in Ohio and we want to go visit next year. We are praying there will be a baby on the way soon for them!!!

7. Saturday night: started the book "The Power of a Praying Wife." I love it so far! One of things I've taken from the 20 pages I've read is to "do right instead of be right."

8. Sunday morning: early church service at 8:30. We love the 8:30 service so much better. The 10:00 service was falling right in the middle of Adilynn's eating time and naptime, so I was missing all of the sermons to be with her! SIDENOTE: I am so grateful to Pastor Lindell for something he said while preaching about a month ago. He said that it's so important to take your children to church and to give them every opportunity possible to grow with God and to get to know Him. Not to mention the importance of your children building relationships and friendships with christian kids their age. I am so glad that Orrin and I take Adilynn every Sunday and Tiffany and Christian when we have them. It's so important to us that they grow up in church...and like the saying says "you make time for what's important to you."

9. Sunday morning: asked about the Life Groups this morning at church. We are so excited to join a group in September.

10. Sunday evening: Adilynn was bathed and fed and in bed by 8:07 pm. Ahhh...quaility time with my hubby!!!!

So that's the weekend in a nutshell.

Tomorrow Tiffany and Christian start school. I love carefree summers, but I am also looking forward to being back on a routine. I am so going to miss having them around, making them breakfast, listening to them play throughout the day and spending summer evenings taking a walk and reading stories.

Here are some of the clothes I packed away for Adilynn. She is just growing soooo quickly!!!!!!!

Here is Adilynn this morning before church. Her new thing is tilting her head to the side. She also says "papa" now, can drink thru a straw and loves Cheerios.

Well, I guess that's it. We are so blessed. Hope everyone has a great week!

A mommy of two...

I'm a mommy of two this week. Orrin and I are keeping our niece Kathryn for the week while his sister Liz and husband Tony are in Jamaica. With the exception of a few fights over toys, things have been going well. This has been good practice for me to see what it's like with two little ones around!!

In the top photo, you can see that they are having a very important conversation. And although Orrin and I have no clue what their baby talk is all about, it's cute to hear.

They are still lost in conversation in this photo. After all....they are girls. They have lots to say!

Anyways- mad props to all you moms out there to more than one child. It's a lot of work, but a lot of fun!

9 months ago today....

this little gem came into the world. I can't believe it's been 9 months already. From the moment Orrin and I knew she existed, she was loved and wanted. By the grace of God she survived me having emergency surgery when I was 11 weeks pregnant, and she survived even when it was discovered I was carrying her without any amniotic fluid. The doctors had no idea how long I had been that way and they had no explanation of how it happened, since my water never broke. But God was in control and was holding her in the palm of His hands. I pray every single day that God uses her in a mighty way and is never far from her. I am so thankful God trusted Orrin and I enough to give her to us.....I am always reminded that she still belongs to Him and that it's our responsibility to train her in the ways of God. I am amazed when I look at her and brought to tears when I think of how she blesses me with every smile. How is it that God knew exactly what we needed and wanted?

And Daddy....boy does she love her Daddy. Case and point: she cried this morning when he was leaving for work, crawled to the door and laid down on the floor and just cried and cried. I'm so happy that someday we'll be able to tell her that he was the first man to ever fall in love with her.

WE LOVE YOU ADILYNN!!

Nothing a little chips and salsa won't cure.

I had Bible study this evening and came home to a rather annoying situation that my husband had to deal with while I was gone. It frustrated me as he was filling me in, but I didn't let it get to me. I couldn't leave a great two hour Bible study and then come home and get all mad!!! So Orrin and I decided we'd combat the negativity brought upon us with chips, salsa and a can of coke. While it might not be the best choice of snack at 10 pm, it did the trick!! I love our late night snacks and good conversations.

P.S. And I'm so glad that God is our vindicator and in time will take care of those who do His children wrong!

Random pictures.

My sister told me not to post a blog without a picture, so I decided to take her advice.

Pic number one: Early morning. Soft skin. Sweet babbles and priceless smiles.

Pic number two: What a big girl. She kept looking down at her feet.

Pic number three: I finally got around to painting her shelf. It still needs a little help in the decoration department, but I just threw all this stuff up there. And no, not all her walls in her room are this color!!! Just two of them are!

Jibba Jabba.

Sometimes I sit down to write a blog and I end up drawing a blank. I guess I'll just start rambling and hope that this blog will actually end up having a point.

So I decided to get up at 6 a.m. this morning. My days are just so busy that I am not accomplishing everything that I want to accomplish. Adilynn woke up at 5:30 to eat, so after putting her back to bed, I decided to just get up. Suprisingly enough, I wasn't that tired. Until 11:00 am rolled around.....THEN I started getting sleepy. I guess I'm just not cut out for early mornings.

I have been making 90% of Adilynn's baby food for her ever since she started on solids. I don't like all the sugar and salt they add to the store bought baby food. I don't even give her juice b/c of all the sugar. Besides me still feeding her, she gets only water. (and, might I add that she is not on a bottle, only a sippy cup) So anyways- this morning I blended a banana, blueberries and cantelope. She loved it!! I was glad....I really want her to develop a taste for blueberries since they are so good for you. She wasn't really crazy about avacados, but she ate some really well yesterday. She has a check up appointment the end of August, so I am going to ask the doctor about adding wheat germ and flax seed to her cereal for an extra boost of healthy stuff.

She has become quite the wiggle worm when we change her diaper. Whatever happened to the days of changing her diaper when she would lay still, sweetly coo and stare up lovingly at us? HA...those days are long gone!!! I can't even change her on her changing table anymore b/c she's so big and moves all around, so I had to move to the floor. We are trying a different approach with her and praising her whenever she does lay still. We've only been doing it for a short time, but she does seem to be getting better with it!! She is also developing a little temper!! Are kids supposed to have tempers at 8 1/2 months of age?! She will pop her her arms out straight in front of her and grunt when she gets mad. I was telling her no when she did it but then she just kept doing it, so I now just ignore it. I'm trying to figure out when babies are actually old enough to understand discipline, like spanking. And yes, we plan on spanking although I'm hoping that time out will usually take care of the problem. Her little bum is too cute to spank. So anyways, hopefully this very unladylike grunting and stiff arm thing is just a phase! Thankfully it doesn't happen very often.

Other than that minor issue....she is such a joy. She has just started waving hi and bye. Especially to Boaz. She bangs on the window and says "do" when she sees him. It's cute. I decided to start working with her today on shapes. She was more interested in putting them in her mouth than learning the difference between a triangle and a circle. We'll keep working on that one. I can't believe that in a little over 3 months she'll be a year. And she is such a daddy's girl!!! There are so many times she only wants him and not me! That's okay tho...I usually don't mind the break, and he eats it up!

I soooo want another little girl close in age to Adilynn. I know it's too early for us to have another one right now, but I know the time will come. I am already praying for our next little one. I figure if God cares about the sparrow then He cares about my desire for another one someday. So why not go ahead and pray for it. Whether it's Avery Faith or Solomon Lee, we'll be grateful. (yes, we already have the names picked out for our next one).

OH....I totally have to get in shape. Thankfully I have some time to do it, but I really do need to start. Orrin's work is sending all employees and their spouses on a cruise next summer if they reach their financial goal in 2008. On Tuesday evening we went to a dinner where they did kind of a motivational talk for everyone. So hopefully they reach their goal...I've never been on a cruise before.

It's so quiet here....Orrin took Adilynn, Tiffany and Christian to his parents for awhile. They love going over there. Orrin is the oldest of nine (yes people, that's right, nine) so there are still six left at home. Plenty of people to play with.

Alright...well, sorry there aren't any deep thoughts in this blog. Or any of my other ones for that matter.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week!
